Clashes Between CSOs And Students At Pondok Gede, Attack Each Other With Sickles And Bamboo

BEKASI - Clashes against mass organizations (community organizations) have occurred again. A commotion of throwing stones and hitting each other occurred at one of the campuses in Jatiwaringin, Pondok Gede, Bekasi, West Java. It is suspected that the commotion involved university students and local mass organizations.

The short video is circulating on social media. The video shows a number of people suspected of being mass organizations carrying sharp weapons, sickles and bamboo. Although there were police officers at the scene, the clashes did not subside.

Pondok Gede Police Chief Kompol Puji Hardi when confirmed said his party was still identifying the victims and witnesses at the scene. According to Hadi, the clashes were allegedly caused by internal campus problems involving organizations from outside.

"We are still investigating this, actually internal problems have been used by people who are thirsty, maybe even with positions," said Hardi to reporters, Tuesday, August 31.

The internal problem is related to the dispute over the rector's position on the campus. Police officers were dispatched to the scene to provide security. The clashes allegedly occurred this afternoon when two groups of mobs from outside came rushing into the campus environment.

"It has been done (mediation), to maintain the conduciveness of the area for both parties to shift, we make sure the condition of the campus is only academics," he said.

Even so, Kompol Hardi has not been able to explain whether there are victims in the clash incident. Hardi asked both parties who felt aggrieved to report it immediately.

"We have directed that if there is a victim to make a report, (for sharp weapons) we have not found it, we have combed it and have not found it," he said.
