Man In Malang Who Stole Money In Mosque Charity Box Arrested By Police

MALANG - An unemployed man stole money in a mosque charity box in Wagir District, Malang Regency, East Java. The money in the charity box is around Rp. 2 million.

Wagir Police Chief, AKP Sri Widyaningsih said, his party managed to detect the face of the perpetrator from the CCTV camera footage. The perpetrator was then arrested.

In the CCTV footage, the perpetrator was pacing back and forth before taking action. He cracked the lock on the charity box using a screwdriver.

"After taking action and taking the money, the perpetrators returned to locking the charity box as before," said Widyaningsih, Tuesday, August 31.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator named Sutikno admitted to stealing money from the charity box for food needs.

"I am unemployed, I use the money to buy food and cigarettes," he said.

As a result of his actions, Sutikno was charged with Article 363 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code regarding theft by weight.
