The Fate Of The Indonesian Patriots Players, Unemployed Even Though IBL Continues

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) competition will be continued on 4 September. However, the Indonesia Patriots team will certainly not participate. So what happened to the players?

The Indonesia Patriots Team is a group of players who have participated in the Indonesian national team training camp. As agreed by IBL and the participating clubs, this team only participates in the regular season and does not enter the play-offs. As is known, the IBL will continue directly into the play-offs so that the Indonesia Patriots will not participate.

There is a desire from the players to return to their respective clubs. However, that wish could not come true. All IBL clubs agree that players who have joined the Indonesia Patriots can no longer be withdrawn from their home clubs. The deal was even taken from the start.

The Indonesian Patriots player, Andakara Prastawa, admitted that he could understand this. He is actually eager to return to his hometown Pelita Jaya club, but he wants to respect the regulations.

"To be honest, I really want to play to defend Pelita Jaya if IBL continues. However, the rules are like that, I have to respect,"

As a professional league, IBL does not allow roster changes other than in the middle of a season or a competition break. This is bound by the rules applied by the competition operator. For that, IBL hopes that the club will stay with the existing roster.

As is known, the IBL has also determined that clubs are not allowed to use the services of foreign players for safety reasons. So only local players can be counted on to navigate the rest of the competition.
