How To Check If Your IPhone Has Fake Components, Must Know Before Buying Refurbished Or Used Products
YOGYAKARTA - Not a few iPhone users prefer to buy used products. The reason is, the price is more affordable, and the quality is not too much different. Indeed, there are several advantages to buying a used iPhone. However, there are more risks that you will face. For example, a product purchased is filled with counterfeit components.
Didn't mean to scare. But that's how the facts on the ground speak. Many iPhone phone buyers are aware of the fraud after using the device for several weeks.
In fact, as in general used cell phones, there is no guarantee or warranty that we can rely on. As a result, consumers and buyers are also very vulnerable to this fraudulent act. In order to avoid this increasingly common fraud, the VOI team has compiled a way to check iPhones that have fake components. Without further ado, take a look at the description below.
Check Notifications in SettingsApple launched iOS 13 in 2019. In it, Apple has added a feature that will notify users if their products are supported by counterfeit components.
On iOS 14, this notification even appears on notifications. However, if you can't see it, you can find similar notifications via Settings.
The trick is to open the Settings app, tap the General menu, then tap the About menu. If your iPhone is filled with fake components, a notification will appear that reads "Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple display".
For the record, this notification unfortunately cannot detect all device components. Only the camera and screen. So, for the other part, you need to do the method below.
Go to Battery Health SettingsEven on the original battery, the durability is sure to drop over time. Especially if the battery installed turns out to be fake, the decrease in endurance will be faster.
This abnormal decrease in capacity and durability could be a sign that your iPhone is using counterfeit components. Therefore, before deciding to buy a refurbished iPhone, it's a good idea to check the health of the battery first.
The method is quite easy. Open the Settings app, tap the Battery menu, then tap the Battery Time option. Just like before, you will see a notification stating that the battery used is not genuine.
Observe Liquid Contact IndicatorEvery generation of iPhone is equipped with a water tracking sensor located inside the SIM card slot. As the company explains via its Apple Support page, this sensor is used to indicate whether the device has been in contact with water or other liquids.
This indicator can be seen from the outside and will activate if it is exposed to liquid. Generally, this indicator is silver or white. Then, when exposed to water, the color will turn completely red. This part is the easiest for us to observe to determine if the iPhone is fake or not. The reason is, most fake iPhones are usually not equipped with a Liquid Contact Indicator. So, when you want to buy a used iPhone, don't forget to pay attention to this section.
