Athlete's Wisma Health Worker Dies Of COVID-19, Public Relations: Haven't Received Booster Vaccine

JAKARTA - Public Relations of the RSDC Wisma Kemayoran Athletes Colonel Mintoro Sumego MS said a health worker named Bayu Aji Purnama (21) died after contracting COVID-19 at the COVID-19 Emergency Hospital (RSDC) Wisma Atlet Kemayoran.

"Bayu Aji Purnama passed away on Sunday, August 29, yesterday. He died yesterday at Yarsi Hospital, Cempaka Putih," he said when contacted by reporters, Tuesday, August 31.

Mintoro confirmed that Bayu had contracted COVID-19 and then his condition worsened and he had to be hospitalized.

"But the results of the last test were negative. Today he was buried without the COVID-19 protocol because it is not contagious," he said.

Mintoro said Bayu had only joined as a medical worker at the Wisma Atlet Hospital last June. He also died at a fairly young age.

Bayu is also known to have no comorbid diseases and has undergone the COVID-19 vaccine twice.

"But the booster vaccine is not yet because the booster vaccine injection will only start this August," he said.

Mintoro also said that the workload of health workers at the Wisma Atlet Hospital had actually decreased quite a bit, with the number of patients also much reduced. However, he also regrets that there are still health workers who have contracted COVID-19 and died.

"This is the second health worker at Wisma Athlete who died, before the first was at the end of last June," he said.
