Indonesia's Schedule At The Tokyo Paralympics Today, Tuesday 31 August

JAKARTA - The Indonesian contingent will continue their struggle at the prestigious Tokyo 2020 Paralympics event by fielding five representatives from three sports today, Tuesday.

Two athletes will compete, including those from the para-athletic branch through Setiyo Budihartanto who competed in the men's long jump T47 and Putri Aulia who appeared in the women's 100 meter number T13.

Launching Antara, Setiyo Budihartanto is scheduled to compete for medals at the Olympic Stadium at 07.30 WIB against 12 other participants. Looking at the competition map, the road for representatives of Indonesia is predicted to be steep.

Based on the personal best records listed on the Tokyo Paralympics website, Setiyo Budihartanto is in seventh place with 7.10 meters, below the other participants.

Arnaud Assoumani of France holds the T46/47 long jump world record with 7.58 meters. In addition, there is also a Chinese representative Hao Wang who has a personal best record of 7.53 meters.

Not to mention the three representatives of the United States who will appear armed with their personal best above the representatives of Indonesia. Roderick Townsend has 7.41 meters and is the record holder for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics.

Then Dallas Wise with 7.33 meters and Tobi Fawehinmi who has a personal best of 7.30 meters. Above the representatives of the Red and White is also Nikita Kotukov (Russian Paralympic Committee) with 7.12 meters.

The rest, under Setiyo Budihartanto's best record, include Michel Gustavo Abraham de Deus (Brazil) with 6.99 meters, Hongjie Chen (China) 6.96 meters and Robiel Yankiel Sol Cervantes (Cuba) 6.77 meters.

In addition, there are also Nemanja Matijasevic (Serbia) with 6.88 meters, Sorie Kargbo (Sierra Leone) with 4.56 meters and Hossain Rasouli (Afghanistan).

Meanwhile, in the 100 meters T13, Putri Aulia will start her struggle in heat three, at the Olympic Stadium at 8.46 WIB.

Putri Aulia will first compete in the preliminary round with five other participants. The Indonesian representative must finish in the top two to secure a ticket to the final which will take place on the same day at 18.10 WIB.

From the personal best list of participants in heat three, Putri Aulia has the potential to advance to the final. He was present armed with the third best time record with 12.39 seconds.

Putri Aulia is behind two tough competitors, namely Adiaratou Iglesias Forneiro (Spain) who has a best time of 11.83 seconds and Elena Chebanu (Azerbaijan) with 12.28 seconds.

The rest, other personal best competitors are under representatives of Indonesia, namely Erin Kerkhoff (United States) with 12.70 seconds, Orla Comerford (Ireland) 12.55 seconds, and Peace Oroma (Uganda) 14.55 seconds.

Even though she has the potential to advance to the final, it is predicted that it will be difficult for Putri Aulia to enter the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic medal competition, because the other participants, from heats one and two, have better personal best records.

In heat one, there was Lamiya Valiteva of Azerbaijan with 12.04 seconds and Brazil's Rayane Soares da Silva with 12.20 seconds.

While in heat two, there is the name of Leilia Adzhametova from Ukraine who has a personal best of 11.79 seconds. Then there was Kym Crosby of the United States with 12.26 seconds.

Even so, it is not impossible that Aulia Putri can compete for a medal in the women's 100 meters T13, considering that she has been training hard so far.

Syuci Indriani's last chance

Meanwhile, in the para-swimming sport, Indonesia will field Syuci Indriani in the 200 meter women's individual medley SM14 at Tokyo Aquatics at 07.46 WIB.

For Syuci, this is the last chance after the two previous numbers failed.

Each in the women's 100 meter breaststroke SB14 last Sunday. Syuci had to settle for being in sixth place in heat two, while failing to reach the final after recording a time of 1 minute 24.06 seconds.

Then in the women's 100 meters butterfly S14, Wednesday, August 25, Syuci, who took part in heat two, was eliminated in the preliminary round after finishing sixth with a time of 1 minute 12.13 seconds.

Today, Syuci is scheduled to start competing in heat two at 07.46 WIB. Overall, the 200-meter women's individual medley SM14 was attended by 18 participants from various countries.

They were divided into three heats before being selected by eight participants with the best time to advance to the final, which was scheduled to take place on the same day, at 15.42 WIB.

Based on the entry time on the official Tokyo 2020 Paralympics website, Syuci Indriani has the opportunity to reach the next round. He arrived armed with a best time of 2 minutes 36.32 seconds, which put him in eighth place.

However, to enter the medal competition, it seems difficult for Syuci Indriani, because he will face a number of athletes who have a much better time record.

One of them, Bethany Firth, has the best time of 1 minute 27.31 seconds. The representative of Great Britain will start the race in heat three.

Bethany Firth is also the Paralympic record holder for the 200 meters women's individual medley SM14. He made this record when he won gold at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with a time of 2 minutes 19.55 seconds.

So far, Bethany Firth has also collected two medals at the Tokyo Paralympics, namely gold in the 4x100m freestyle mixed relay S14 and silver in the 200m freestyle S14.

In addition, there is Valeriia Shabalina from the Russian Paralympic Committee who holds the world record with a time of 2 minutes 18.78 seconds.

In Tokyo, he has collected two gold. Each in the women's 100 meters freestyle and S14 women's 100 meters butterfly.

Another tough competitor, namely Louise Fiddes from Great Britain, based on the Tokyo Paralympics entry time, was in third place with a time of 2 minutes 26.05 seconds.

Then Jessica Jane Applegate who also comes from Great Britain and Australian athlete Paige Leonhardt who both have the record time over the representatives of the Red and White.

In the preliminary round, Syuci was in the third best position among the other participants who started the race in heat two. She is behind Valeriia Shabalina and Paige Leonhardt who have the best time of 2 minutes 32.10 seconds.

While the rest are under Syuci, including Ashley Van Rijswijk (Australia) with 2 minutes 37.49 seconds, Olga Poteshkina (RPC) with 2 minutes 37.99 seconds, and Ana Karolina Soares de Oliveira (Brazil) with a record of 2 minutes 40. ,70 seconds.

Team table tennis against China

Furthermore, from the para-table tennis sport, the men's team number for grades 9-10, the Indonesian struggle will begin at 08.00 WIB.

Indonesia was represented by David Jacobs and Komet Akbar. They will compete with Chinese representatives Hao Lian and Yi Qing Zhao in the round of 16.

In the men's team number 9-10 class, Merah Putih is the fifth seed, while China is the third seed. Referring to the results of the meeting of each representative on the ITTF page for Table Tennis, David Jacobs has faced Hao Lian 10 times.

David Jacobs dominated by bagging eight wins, including in their last meeting, in the 2018 Asian Para Games individual final in Jakarta. At that time, David Jacobs won with a score of 11-4, 7-11, 11-6, 17-15.

However, David Jacobs and Yi Qing Zhao had never faced each other before. Likewise with the Great Comet which has never met Yi Qing Zhao.

Meanwhile, Great Comet and Lian Hao had met in seven previous tournaments. Comet Akbar has a poor record with only one win.

He achieved this result when he appeared at the 2019 Asian Championship. At that time, Komet Akbar won with a score of 11-7, 11-9, 11-7. But the rest, the Indonesian representative always lost to Lian Hao.

The Indonesian table tennis for the men's team number is targeted to win bronze. This target has the potential to be realized if its representatives manage to pass China in the round of 16.

For the representatives of Indonesia who will appear at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, good luck and hope you get the best results.
