2 Years On The Run, Man With A Wife In North Sumatra Arrested After Boyfriending And Abusing Teenagers
MEDAN - Police arrested a man with the initials MR (26) in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. MR was arrested for dating a 16-year-old girl and then molested her.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Deli Serdang Police, Kompol Muhammad Firdaus, said the married man was arrested in Teluk Mengkudu District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, Wednesday, August 25. The perpetrator was arrested after 2 years of being a fugitive.
"He was arrested based on Police Report: LP / 545 / XII / 2019 / SU / RESTA DS, December 30, 2019," said Firdaus.
According to Firdaus, before molesting his victim, he first dated her for 2 months.
"Even though at that time the suspect was already married and had a wife and 2 children," said Firdaus.
This case was revealed after the victim's mother got the news that her son was dating MR. The victim's mother interrogated her son. According to the victim's statement, apart from dating, the victim was also sexually assaulted.
"The victim admitted that the victim had been molested by the perpetrator twice, which occurred on November 17, 2019 and November 21, 2019 in the rice field area," he continued.
Furthermore, the victim's mother, HI, reported this incident to the Deli Serdang Police at that time.
"He was arrested without any resistance and then took the suspect to the Deli Serdang Police Headquarters in a safe condition," said Firdaus
For his actions, MR was charged with Article 81 paragraph (2) and or 82 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 76 E of Law No. 17 of 2016 concerning Stipulation of Perpu No. 01 of 2016 concerning Second Amendment to Law No. 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection.
"The threat of a sentence of 15 years," said Firdaus.
