Troubled, Mass Of Supporters Of Rizieq Shihab Breaks Rows, Beats Back By Officials

JAKARTA - The results of the appeal filed by Rizieq Shihab and two other defendants were rejected. Where the judges of the DKI Jakarta High Court upheld the decision of the East Jakarta District Court which was read out on June 24, 2021.

"The verdict with case number 210 on behalf of Rizieq Shihab was sentenced to four years in the East Jakarta District Court, and this is what PT DKI Jakarta has confirmed," PT DKI Public Relations Officer Pamapo Pakpahan told reporters, Monday, August 30.

In addition to Rizieq, PT DKI Jakarta also upheld the decision of the East Jakarta District Court on behalf of the defendant Hanif Alatas who was sentenced to one year in prison regarding the case of the COVID-19 swab test result at Ummi Hospital, Bogor.

"Everything is strengthened," he said.

The DKI Jakarta High Court invites the defendant to file an appeal at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia if he objected to the decision.

Initially, the reading of the verdict was conducive until 10:00 WIB. Until 10.30 WIB, a number of people from Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta tried to approach the DKI Jakarta High Court in Cempaka Putih.

They tried to squeeze in from the line of police officers guarding the Coca Cola intersection, Jalan Letjen Suprapto, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta.

Riots broke out in the area near ITC Cempaka Mas. A number of mobs, some of them dressed in white, threw stones at the police line.

The police then fired tear gas into the crowd. Jalan Letjen Suprapto towards Senen was temporarily closed.

Until 30 minutes had passed, the crowd dispersed and scattered towards Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta and Rawamangun, East Jakarta.
