The KPK Council Invites The Directorate Of Action To Follow Up On The Results Of The Ethics Trial Against Lili Pintauli
JAKARTA - Member of the Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Albertina Ho invites the Directorate of KPK Enforcement to follow up on the results of the ethics trial against the Deputy Chair of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar.
As for the trial, the Ethics Council Council imposed severe sanctions on Lili after she was proven to have violated the code of ethics and code of conduct after abusing the influence of the KPK leadership and dealing directly with the party whose case was being handled by the KPK.
"Regarding whether to be followed up by the Directorate of Enforcement or how, it is not within the authority of the Supervisory Board. We are only limited to ethics and it has been decided and then left to the authorities," Albertina said in a press conference broadcast on the Indonesian KPK Youtube, Monday, August 30.
Similarly, Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, the Chairperson of the KPK Supervisory Board, emphasized that his party only entered into the ethical side of what Lili did. So, regarding the application of Article 36 in conjunction with Article 64 in the KPK Law or other follow-up actions, it is not their domain.
"In our opinion, we are only looking at it from an ethical point of view. What kind of ethics is that? Proper and appropriateness. So it's not about criminal matters," he said.
The text of the article is as follows:
Article 36:
1. The leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission is prohibited from: having direct or indirect relationships with suspects or other parties who are related to corruption cases handled by the Corruption Eradication Commission for any reason;
2. to handle cases of criminal acts of corruption in which the perpetrators are related by blood or by marriage in a straight line up or down to the third degree with the member of the Corruption Eradication Commission concerned;
3. serving as a commissioner or director of a company, organ of a foundation, supervisor or management of a cooperative, and other professional positions or other activities related to such positions.
If found violating, Article 65 stipulates that members of the KPK can be sentenced to a maximum imprisonment of 5 years.
Previously reported, the KPK Supervisory Board found Lili guilty and violated the code of ethics because she was in contact with the litigant, namely the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial. He is guilty of violating Article 4 Paragraph 2 Letter b as well as Council Regulation No. 2 of 2020.
"Try and declare the examinee Lili Pintauli Siregar guilty of violating the code of ethics and behavioral guidelines in the form of abuse of influence as a KPK leader for personal interests and dealing with parties whose cases are being handled," said Tumpak when reading the verdict.
Furthermore, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Board sentenced Lili to severe sanctions in the form of a year's salary deduction.
"Punishing the examinee with severe sanctions in the form of cutting his basic salary by 40 percent for 12 months," said Tumpak.
There are two things that incriminate Lili so that she was sentenced. He is said to have shown no remorse for his actions and did not set an example and role model as a KPK leader in carrying out IS. While the mitigating thing is that Lili admits her actions and has never been sentenced to ethical sanctions.
