6 New Google Meet Features To Compete With Zoom
JAKARTA - The Google Meet video conferencing application continues to provide updates to facilitate user activities. This is done by Google so that it can compete with similar applications, both Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
As quoted by 9to5Google, some of the new Google Meet features include allowing users to change the background view during online meetings. Not only that, Google also confirmed several other features such as real-time captions, low-light mode, and hand-raising.
"In the next few months, we will make it easier for users who want to change the appearance of the background with images of their own choice," wrote Google in its official statement, Tuesday, June 30.
In addition, Google Meet also supports the viewing of meeting participants up to 49 people in one video conference call. The plan is that this new feature will be released in the near future so that it can be used for corporate and educational purposes.
Furthermore, Google has integrated the Meet service into Gmail since last month. The addition of Google's features was carried out to catch up with them from the popular video conferencing service during the Covid-19 pandemic, namely Zoom.
At that time, many employees and students were forced to do their activities online. The presence of a video conference application has also become popular for meeting face to face with colleagues during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The following is an explanation of the six new features of Google Meet, as summarized by VOI:
1. Hand Raising: This one feature can function when participants have questions with the main moderator. And later the moderator can respond quickly.
2. Meeting Attendance: The main moderator can see who is attending the online meeting.
3. Breakout Rooms: This feature makes it easier for the main moderator to break up the team into small groups so they can have internal discussions with the team. When finished, they can regroup.
4. Q&A: Provide space for the audience to ask questions without interrupting the flow of the conversation.
5. Polls: This feature can involve participants in large meetings when something requires the main moderator to submit a poll, and this feature can be used in real-time.
6. Controls for Main Moderator: Gives the main moderator additional controls for muting, displaying, joining or noting and more.
