Carl Fredricksen Voiced By Up, Ed Asner, Dies

JAKARTA - Actor Ed Asner was announced dead on Sunday, August 29. Through his social media, the family uploaded an official statement without mentioning the cause of the actor's death.

"Our beloved head of the family passed away today peacefully," reads the first line of the statement.

“Words cannot express the sadness we feel. With a kiss on your forehead - good night dad. We love you."

Ed Asner is an actor born in 1929 from Kansas, Missouri who started his acting career in college. Having served in the United States Corps, Asner moved to New York to develop his acting.

In his filmography records, Ed Asner dominated several television series, say, Lou Grant, Rich Man Poor Man, The Good Wife, and most recently Cobra Kai.

His name is also often associated with the Disney Pixar film Up. Ed Asner is the voice of the legendary Carl Fredricksen. In addition, he also voiced the 1990s Spider-Man series, The Boondocks, and the video games Star Wars.

He will also appear as Carl Fredricksen in the Up spin-off Dug Days which will be released on Disney+ in the coming weeks. Ed Asner died at the age of 91.
