Waiting For The Decision Of The KPK Supervisory Board Against Lili Pintauli's Alleged Ethical Violation
JAKARTA - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will decide the fate of the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar, who was reported for allegedly violating the code of ethics after dealing with litigants. It is planned that the hearing for the reading of the verdict will be held on Monday, August 30 or today.
The certainty regarding the agenda for reading the verdict on the alleged violations committed by Lili Pintauli Siregar is the Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of the KPK, Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean.
"(The reading of Lili Pintauli's decision, ed) Monday, August 30," he told reporters.
The alleged ethical violation by Lili was reported by two inactive KPK investigators because they did not pass the Novel Baswedan and Rizka Anungnata National Insight Test (TWK) Assessments, as well as the now retired Director of the KPK Inter-Commission and Institutional Network Development (PJKAKI) Sujanarko.
Novel Baswedan et al reported Lili on two alleged violations. First, he allegedly contacted the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial and informed him of the handling of the alleged corruption case that ensnared him, namely the sale and purchase of positions in the Tanjung Balai City Government.
As for this case, M Syahrial was announced as a suspect together with the Regional Secretary of Tanjungbalai City Yusmada on Friday, August 27 yesterday. The announcement of the suspect was delivered by the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution, Karyoto.
For her act of contacting the litigants, Lili is suspected of violating the principle of integrity, namely Article 4 paragraph (2) letter a, Regulation of the Indonesian KPK Supervisory Board Number 2 of 2020 concerning Enforcement of the KPK Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. This article reads:
"KPK personnel are prohibited from having direct or indirect relationships with suspects, defendants, convicts, or other parties who are related to cases of criminal acts of corruption whose cases are known to be being handled by the Commission except in the context of carrying out their duties and with the knowledge of the leadership or direct superiors."
Meanwhile, in the second case, Lili is said to have used her position as a KPK leader with the aim of pressuring the Mayor of Tanjungbalai Syahrial. This was done to settle the staffing affairs of his sister-in-law Ruri Prihatini Lubis at the Tirta Kualo Tanjungbalai Drinking Water Company.
For this allegation, he is suspected of violating the principle of integrity in Article 4 paragraph (2) letter b, Regulation of the Indonesian KPK Supervisory Board Number 2 of 2020 concerning Enforcement of the KPK Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. This article reads:
"KPK personnel are prohibited from abusing their position and/or authority, including abusing their influence as a member of the Commission, both in carrying out their duties and personal interests."
Was mentioned in courtThe communication that was established between Lili and M Syahrial was once revealed by former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju in a trial for alleged bribery to stop the case. The trial was held at the Medan Corruption Court, North Sumatra on Monday, July 26.
Stepanus, who was sitting as a witness, stated that Syahrial had been called by Lili in connection with the case of buying and selling positions in the Tanjungbalai City Government which was being handled by the KPK.
"Mr. Syahrial asked Fahri Aceh for help on the advice of Mrs. Lili Pintauli Siregar, as far as I know she is the Deputy Chair of the KPK," said Robin at the trial.
He then explained that Syahrial had told him that he wanted to ask for help related to the legal problem of buying and selling positions that were currently being investigated at the KPK.
"At the beginning the defendant (Shahrial, ed) said that she had just received a call from Mrs. Lili who said that 'Yal, how are you? Your file is on my desk,' Mrs. Lili conveyed to the defendant at that time," said Robin.
"Then the defendant said to Mrs. Lili 'help ma'am', then after that, Mrs. Lili said 'Yes, I have met my person in Medan whose name is Fahri Aceh'," said Stepanus.
Even so, the recipient of the bribe from M Syahrial to stop the investigation into the alleged corruption did not know whether the suggestion was followed up. However, Stepanus revealed that Syahrial had already known Lili.
"I don't know if the defendant has met with Fahri Aceh or not. To my knowledge, the defendant already knew Mrs. Lili," said Stepanus.
