Bad News, As Many As 80 Families Were Affected By Flash Floods In Rogo Village, Sigi Regency
JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sigi Regency noted that at least 80 families (KK) were victims of the flash flood that hit Rogo Village, South Dolo District, Sigi Regency on Sunday, August 29 night.
As many as 80 families live in hamlet 1 and hamlet 4, which are hamlets that were hit by flash floods.
"A total of 80 houses belonging to them were flooded, but fortunately there were no injuries or deaths due to the flash flood," said BPBD Head Sigi Asrul Repadjori, quoted by Antara, Monday, August 30 in the morning.
Currently, residents whose houses are flooded are forced to take refuge in the houses of local residents who are not affected, the homes of relatives or in emergency shelters.
"Urgent needs are needed at this time, namely clean water and heavy equipment to speed up the process of evacuation and cleaning of materials carried by flash floods," he said.
Evacuation teams from various government and non-government agencies and humanitarian agencies have been at the banjir bandang location to assist the evacuation process and clean up the banjir bandang location with local residents.
Flash floods hit hamlet 1 and hamlet 4 of Rogo Village at around 18.30 WITA.
Head of Rogo Village Fuad Hudin said the flash flood occurred due to overflowing water in one of the rivers in Rogo Village after heavy rains.
"Heavy intensity rains caused the water in the Rogo Village river to overflow, causing the embankment to burst, resulting in flash floods that carried wood and stone materials to residential areas," he said, Sunday, August 29.
Until the early hours of the morning, the settlements were still submerged by mud materials carried by flash floods and residents were still working together to clean the houses with the lowest mud.
"Due to the flash flood, two bridges could not be crossed because they broke. Fortunately, this flash flood did not cause people to die and no people were injured," he said.
