BJ Habibie's Family-owned Tower In Batam Is Twice As High As Marina Bay Sands

JAKARTA - The family of the 3rd president of the Republic of Indonesia Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie together with PT Pollux Properti Indonesia Tbk have entrusted state-owned construction company PT PP (Persero) Tbk to build a superblock titled Meisterstadt or Pollux Habibie in the Batam Center area, Batam, Riau Islands. This project departs from BJ Habibie's ambition to realize Batam as a developed and foremost city in Indonesia.

Anton Satyo Hendriatmo, Operations Director of PT PP, explained that Meisterstadt's first phase of construction is projected to be completed in July 2020. According to him, this proves that the capability of PT PP as a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) is comparable to that of foreign contractors on a world scale.

"It is an honor for us that PT PP is trusted as the main contractor for the Meisterstadt Batam project. The dream of President BJ Habibie, who wants to advance Batam to compete with Singapore, is an encouragement so that we have successfully completed the construction of 4 skyscraper apartment towers within 24 months," said Anton in the statement received, Tuesday 30 June.

The mega superblock, which is built on an area of 9 hectares, adopts the concept of an integrated vertical city from Germany. The Meisterstadt area is claimed to pay attention to human-centric factors, namely how to apply high technology that is also environmentally friendly.

"In addition to 4 55-story apartment towers, the first phase development with an area of 300,000 square meters consists of a lifestyle mall with H&M as the main anchor and also the F&B shopping street," he continued.

The President Commissioner of PT PP, Andi Gani Nena Wea, said the late BJ Habibie believed that in the future the Meistertadt Batam mega superblock project would be a catalyst for change to make Batam a metropolitan city. The view of the beautiful islands that surround the Batam Island area will also be one of its strongest attractions.

Andi Gani added, Meisterstadt, which is almost twice as high as Singapore's Marina Bay Sands, will become Indonesia's new icon.

"Pollux Habibie Financial Center & International Hotel which has a height of up to 350 meters will make Meisterstadt a new icon of the city of Batam as well as Indonesia. Of course PT PP is proud to be an Indonesian state-owned company if it can complete the construction of a masterpiece that contains the vision of President BJ Habibie's in it," "closed Andi Gani.

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir decided that Andi Gani Nena Wea was re-elected as President Commissioner at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS) for the 2019 Financial Year of PT PP on Thursday, June 4, 2020. This is his second period to occupy that position.

Andi Gani is the youngest BUMN President Commissioner. When he was appointed for the first time, Andi Gani was only 39 years old.
