South Aceh Regent Asks Case Of 3 Dead Tigers To Be Trapped
BANDA ACEH - South Aceh Regent Tgk Amran regrets and is concerned that three Sumatran tigers (Panthera tigris sumatrae) have died from snares in a forest area in Meukek District.
"We regret and are concerned that three tigers were found dead. We ask law enforcement to thoroughly investigate the deaths of the three Sumatran tigers," said Tgk Amran in Tapaktuan, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 27.
The regent said the information he received was that the snares were a pig's device. Usually, according to him, those who set up the pig snares are outsiders of South Aceh.
Because, said Tgk Amran, the people of South Aceh who make a living in the forest do not set snares that cause the death of protected animals such as tigers.
The Regent emphasized that the Sumatran tiger and other protected animals are natural resources that must be protected so that they can be passed on to future generations.
"The people of South Aceh have been living side by side with tigers. During the conflict, when I was in the mountains, tigers became a guide when they got lost," said Tgk Amran.
Previously, three Sumatran tigers were found dead from snares at a separate point in the forest area in Gampong (village) Ie Buboh, Meukek District, South Aceh Regency.
The three tigers, one female parent is estimated to be 10 years old and two cubs, male and female with an estimated age of 10 months. Male chicks were found entangled in a separate location.
The location of the dead protected animal is in a protected forest area bordering another use area (APL). The female tiger mother and cub were found dead five days after being found. While the male puppies died three days when found.
