Police, The Courier Whose Package Was Stolen Will Be Asked For Compensation Of Rp. 3.5 Million If The Perpetrator Is Not Found
JAKARTA - The police are currently investigating the case of the theft of an expedition package that went viral on social media. Metro Police Chief Setiabudi Police Commissioner Beddy Suwendi said that his party had visited the scene and pocketed CCTV video footage in front of the Graha Surveyor Indonesia Building, East Kuningan, South Jakarta on Thursday, August 25.
"We need information on the types of items that were lost. We just have to wait for the victim to come with a list of items and then we will immediately process it," Beddy said, quoting Antara, Friday, August 27.
Beddy revealed that his party knew about the incident after receiving a report from the victim who previously reported it to the Pancoran Police.
"The reporter has reported it to the Pancoran Police. The Setiabudi Police have coordinated with the victim to immediately report to the Setiabudi Police and bring a list of any missing items," said Beddy.
Previously a video showing a man shuffling the luggage of a courier went viral on Instagram.
The recording of the theft was uploaded to the @recordjakarta Instagram account.
In the video footage, the perpetrator is seen arriving on a motorbike wearing a jacket from an online motorcycle taxi.
After monitoring the situation, it didn't take long for him to remove the package sack from the victim's motorbike and transport the goods to be delivered.
Meanwhile, the victim said that at that time, he would deliver the package to the Surveyor Indonesia building. Then he parked his car in front of the building.
"The perpetrator acted approximately five minutes after I got off the motorbike and entered. The total loss was Rp. 3,520,000. If the perpetrator is not found, I have to replace him," he said.
The victim hopes that the perpetrator can be caught because it has disturbed the package courier workers.
