Not Related To The BLBI Case, The Land In Karawaci Does Not Belong To Lippo

JAKARTA - PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk confirms that the assets of the evading Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) are not on the company's land. Lippo Karawaci Corporate Communication Danang Kemayan Jati said the land submitted by the government was actually land that had been legally owned and controlled by the government, in this case the Ministry of Finance, since 2001.

"So the land no longer belongs to PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk," said Danang.

He said that land ownership by the government since 2001 is related to the BLBI for banks that were taken over by the government, such as IBRA in September 1997, during the monetary crisis at that time.

"Not a single Lippo company, including Bank Lippo, has ever asked for or received even a penny or a penny of BLBI funds," said Danang.

Danang continued that his party has always supported the government's program to consolidate certain assets belonging to the Ministry of Finance and the newly formed BLBI Task Force.

"That among the assets that are consolidated within the Task Force, there are those located around a settlement called Lippo Karawaci is something that is natural," he said.

"It is as if there was confiscation of land or assets that Lippo has linked as past or present obligors, is completely untrue. Because these assets have been owned by the state since 2001," added Danang.
