Inaugurating The Groundbreaking Of The Disputed Tabayyun Mosque, Anies: We Can't Do Violations

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan inaugurated the groundbreaking process for the Tabayyun Mosque located in the Taman Villa Meruya (TVM) housing complex, Kembangan, West Jakarta.

Currently, the land is being disputed at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN). A number of parties on behalf of TVM residents sued Anies for giving permission to build the Tabayyun Mosque because it is located in an urban green open space (RTHKP).

Although there is a dispute and a court decision has not yet been issued, Anies emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government cannot violate the law because it follows the existing rules.

"You can see in detail about the provisions of the designation. We in DKI Jakarta cannot possibly violate our own provisions and that is the guideline," Anies said at the location, Friday, August 27.

Anies ensured that the construction process of the Tabayyun Mosque was carried out in accordance with the provisions of the licensing process for three years since 2018.

According to him, the DKI Provincial Government already has a principle permit, a building permit (IMB), and recommendations for mosque construction from the Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB).

"We cannot give permission for a place of worship if there is no recommendation from FKUB. With all the procedures followed, the groundbreaking can be done," said Anies.

"I congratulate the management who have fought for it for years. Hopefully this endeavor will be recorded as a charity for all of us, and at the same time the land used is land that maintains benefits for all of us," he continued.

However, Anies admitted that he had no problem with the land dispute for the construction of the Tabayyun Mosque in the Administrative Court. Because, according to him, it is part of the democratic process.

"Citizens have the right to submit their claims through the Administrative Court. This is a state process. So, when the government makes a decision and it is deemed inappropriate, citizens have the right to sue to the Administrative Court and the court will decide later," said Anies.
