Gangs Of Thugs Extort Truck Drivers In The City, Actors Intention To Rent A Car

JAKARTA - Cilandak Police Commissioner Agung Permana arrested 4 extortionists who often troubled truck drivers on the Inner City Toll Road. The perpetrators were arrested while acting in the Jagorawi Toll Road area, after the police received the victim's report.

The head of the Cilandak Police, Kompol Agung Permana, said the modus operandi of the perpetrators was to harass the truck driver who was resting on the side of the toll road.

"Initially we arrested three perpetrators on the Jagorawi Toll Road, they had the initials JAM, RJ and J. Meanwhile, the hospital was arrested in a separate location, namely in the Ciledug area," he told reporters, Friday, August 27.

The police chief said that the perpetrator with the initials RS had fled during the arrest at the first location. However, within 1x24 hours they were captured again.

"The hospital is the brains of this gang. The hospital is planning the locations of the blackmail crimes," he said.

In its action, this extortion group has its own way. They are willing to capitalize on renting a car rental for crime operations.

"They rent a car. We confiscate the vehicle and the money from the robbery. They rent a car to carry out the action. They are also not affiliated with any mass organizations," he said.

The perpetrators demanded a minimum of Rp. 20,000 from the truck drivers. They carry out special actions along the Jagorawi Toll Road and the Merak Toll Road.

"They know which routes to take. The suspects claim that they produce for their daily needs. Their group of actions is very disturbing to truck drivers. They have been in action for 1 year, targeting truck drivers," he said.

To the police, the suspect admitted to getting more than 1 million in a day. Because they are chasing the target of paying car rental and the rest is divided equally.

"The extortion operation started in the morning until they paid for the car rental and the distribution of the proceeds. The perpetrators were charged with Article 368 of the Criminal Code," he said.
