Bobby Nasution Demonstrated By Residents Because Of Medan Selayang Flood, Deputy Walkot Invites Mass Audience
MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution's office was protested by residents because the neighborhood was flooded. Deputy Mayor of Medan Aulia Rachman invited representatives of residents who were demonstrating for an audience.
"The aspirations expressed by representatives of the residents of Environment X Tanjung Sari and Neighborhood XIV PB Selayang 2 Medan City are related to the location of floods in the Medan Selayang area," said Aulia Rachman, Thursday, August 26.
Aulia Rachman representing Bobby Nasution discussed with representatives of the demonstrators because the mayor was focusing on handling COVID-19.
In the hearing, it was discussed the issue of the ditch that is unable to accommodate the water discharge. According to residents' representatives, this ditch is public land that has not been compensated. Therefore, the residents did not dare to divert the ditch.
"The trench is an old natural ditch, which means it is not a permanent channel for the development of the Medan City Government," said Aulia Rachman.
This location is right on Jalan Ngumban Surbakti, in front of the Quality campus. Residents also claimed to have held demonstrations at the location. However, until now there has been no response until finally complained to the Medan City Government.
“Medan City is currently in the process of studying for drainage which is targeted to be completed next year. Mr. Wali is currently re-mapping the entire city of Medan, because in the future we want the best quality for roads and drainage, "said Aulia Rachman.
"God willing, next year the drainage will be completed. The Medan City Government, under the leadership of Mr. Wali, targets that within 2 years the road will be finished in Medan City. Because there must be significant and integrated movements or changes," continued the Deputy Mayor of Medan.
