Setien's Tense And Heated Up Barca Players In The Balaidos Dressing Room
JAKARTA - Barcelona has had a difficult time since Quique Setien became head coach at the Camp Nou. Not only because Real Madrid were able to regain the top position of La Liga and be two points clear, but also because of the poor relationship between Setien and the Barcelona players.
This is nothing new. Because it has been proven since the 61-year-old coach was appointed as the interpreter for the Los Blaugrana last January. And now, it's peaked with Barcelona's draw at Celta Vigo last Saturday.
Launching MARCA, Monday, June 29, at the end of the match, there was a tense discussion in the Barcelona dressing room between the players and Setien. Some can see that things are not going well after the remarks made by Luis Suarez on the pitch following the match at Estadio de Balaidos.
He was seen pointing at the coaching staff when asked why Barcelona was disappointing when playing at home to opponents.
In the dressing room at Balaidos, the players criticized the coach for some of his tactical decisions as well as for some of the players. The changes he made in the match against Celta, such as playing Arthur Melo and Antoine Griezmann.
The discussion was very tense, according to some sources, and it shows that there is no harmony between the players and the coaching staff.
The players disagreed with some of the coach's methods and began to realize that if they continued in their current style of play, they would not win trophies. This is also one of the reasons why the Barca squad don't like their coach.
However, even though Real Madrid are now superior, with conditions in the dressing room not harmonious, Barca players feel there is still time to turn things around.
