South Sulawesi Police Reveals 40 Kilograms Of Shabu And 4 Thousand Ecstasy Pills, 2 People Are Intensively Examined
MAKASSAR - The South Sulawesi Police are still developing the arrests of two suspected perpetrators along with evidence of 40 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 4,000 ecstasy pills. The disclosure was made by the Drug Investigation Directorate team at a hotel in Makassar.
"We managed to secure yesterday two men with the initials SY and BY. From this arrest, evidence in the form of narcotics of methamphetamine weighing 40 kilograms was secured, then there were also 4,000 pills of ecstasy," said Head of Public Relations of the South Sulawesi Police, Kombes E Zulpan at the South Sulawesi Police Headquarters, Makassar, quoted by Antara, Thursday, August 26.
Currently, the two alleged perpetrators are still being investigated intensively for the development process and their network.
For status determination, said Zulpan, referring to Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, investigators still have the authority of 3x24 hours to apply the status of the two suspects.
"The two people are still in the examination stage. Likewise, we have secured the evidence. Apart from drugs, we have other evidence in the form of cellphones (cell phones) and vehicles," said Kombes Zulpan.
According to him, the team in the field is still working to uncover other parties suspected of having a connection with the narcotics distribution in Makassar City. Meanwhile, the article that will be subject to Law Number 35 of 2019 concerning Narcotics.
"What is clear (the suspect) is not from here. There may be additional evidence and other perpetrators. Let the team work first," he explained.
"We hope that before 3x24 hours, there will be results of development or revealing cases and also revealing the veil of other networks. So, where they come from, we can reveal who the networks are," he said.
The plan was that the release of the case presenting evidence and the two alleged perpetrators would be carried out, but it was later canceled, on the grounds that there were no suspects, and that the results of the drug evidence were still being developed.
Previously, the Special Team for the Narcotics Directorate of the South Sulawesi Police arrested two people at a hotel, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Makassar, on Wednesday night. The team also managed to secure three suitcases and a tote bag allegedly containing 40 kilograms of drugs and thousands of ecstasy pills.
