Former Regent Of Talaud Sri Wahyumi Suspect Of Gratification Case Will Soon Be Tried

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has submitted files and the suspect to the public prosecutor (JPU) for the former regent of the Talaud Islands, North Sulawesi, Sri Wahyumi Maria Manalip in the gratification case. The delivery was made today.

"The KPK investigatory team has completed the second stage of handing over the suspect and evidence to the public prosecutor's team because after the investigation, the case file was declared complete," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, to reporters, Thursday, August 26.

In this gratification case, the KPK has examined 101 people, including the private sector and civil servants in the Talaud Islands Regency Government.

After the surrender of the suspect and evidence, the detention of Sri Wahyumi is now under the authority of the KPK prosecutor. He will be detained again for 20 days until September 14 at the KPK Detention Center at the Red and White House.

Furthermore, the prosecutor has 14 days to prepare an indictment and then submit it to the Corruption Court.

"The trial is scheduled at the Corruption Court at the Manado District Court," said Ali.

As previously reported, the KPK has again named the former Talaud Regent, Sri Wahyumi Manalip, as a suspect in the gratification case related to an infrastructure work project.

At that time, he had just breathed free air from the Tangerang prison on Wednesday, April 28 because he was proven to have accepted bribes.

In this case, Sri was named a suspect in receiving gratuities after examining 100 witnesses and confiscation of a number of evidences related to this case. The receipt of money he did reached Rp. 9.5 billion.

For his actions, Sri is suspected of violating Article 12 B of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
