Estadio Leo Messi: A Beautiful Tribute To La Pulga That Goes Viral
JAKARTA - A Lionel Messi fan in Argentina showed his love for the former Barcelona captain in a unique way. He built the Estadio Leo Messi.
Located in Mendoza, 1.000 kilometers from Messi's birthplace, Rosario, this 'stadium' has no lights, no real pitch, no stadium markings, and no goal-sized FIFA regulations.
Instead, the 'stadium' is a small field nestled in the mountains, with spectacular views of the Andes.
The idea came from an Argentine chef named Francisco Javier Guardiola, who has nothing to do with the Manchester City coach.
He wanted to pay homage to Messi by building a stadium in the player's name.
Francisco's daughter Maca posted a photo of the stadium on social media.
"My parents built themselves a stadium in the middle of the mountains (Mendoza, Argentina) and named it Estadio Leo Messi", wrote Maca.
"I want you to see it, please, this was a dream of my parents. I think it's a better award than what Barcelona gave him".
Spanish internet celebrity, streamer, and esports commentator Ibai Llanos, who was tagged in the tweet saw and responded.
"Tell your dad I love him", Llanos wrote.
"I want to pay a small tribute to someone who has given us so much happiness", Francisco Javier Guardiola told Ole.
