South Kalimantan Governor Uncle Birin Focuses On Handling COVID-19 And Restoring The Economy
BANJARMASIN - Governor and Deputy Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor (Uncle Birin) and Muhidin emphasized that their government will focus on reducing the number of COVID-19 transmissions and economic recovery.
According to Sahbirin, his party will immediately work to restore the economic conditions of the people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still ongoing.
"We will work hand in hand and synergize with all SKPD Heads and district/city regional heads to continue the development of South Kalimantan 2021 - 2024. Our main focus is accelerating the COVID-19 response and people's economic recovery," said Uncle Birin, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 25.
So, he said, in the preparation of future development programs, he prioritizes sectors that have a direct impact on the community, such as the agricultural sector, plantations, infrastructure, increasing MSMEs and others.
Accompanied by Deputy Governor H Muhidin, Uncle Birin said that until now cases of COVID-19 transmission in South Kalimantan are still high.
In addition to tackling COVID-19, another development target is to make South Kalimantan a strategic area with the establishment of the state capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan.
As the gateway to the nation's capital, South Kalimantan will receive a significant impact on the development of various sectors and the welfare of society.
Meanwhile, Sahbirin-Muhidin's mission is to improve the quality and competitiveness of human resources (HR), promote equitable economic growth and strengthen basic infrastructure and the economy.
In addition, implementing governance that focuses on public services and strengthening environmental and disaster resilience.
Sahbirin Noor-Muhidin also plans to develop new economic areas to support IKN.
Improving the connectivity of economic growth areas, fulfilling the infrastructure supporting the economy, as well as providing renewable energy sources.
Previously, President Joko Widodo inaugurated the elected governor and deputy governor of South Kalimantan, Sahbihin Noor and Muhidin.
The inauguration at the State Palace in Jakarta, Wednesday, August 25, took place solemnly by implementing strict health protocols.
