Governor Nova Iriansyah Asks Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs To Help Extend Aceh's Special Autonomy

JAKARTA - Aceh Governor Nova Iriansyah asked the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD to help Aceh so that the special autonomy fund (otsus) for Aceh which ends in 2027 is extended by the central government.

"We hope it can be extended. With the reason that the integration process has not been completed, considering that the peace to be achieved is forever. And with the hope that there will be symmetrical institutions (KKW, MAA, MPD, MPU, BRA)," said Nova Iriansyah, in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 25.

The request was conveyed by the Governor of Aceh in a meeting with Mahfud MD, at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, in Jakarta, said Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau of the Aceh Secretariat Muhammad Iswanto.

He explained that during the meeting, the Governor of Aceh, Nova Iriansyah, also reported on the development of peace in Aceh.

Nova Iriansyah admitted that he was sure that the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs fully supported the extension of the Special Autonomy Fund for Aceh.

"We hope that the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs can fully support the future of Aceh's Special Autonomy, and can encourage the completeness of legal regulations," he said.

During the meeting, Nova also said that the poverty rate in Aceh in the 2017-2020 period had decreased.

However, during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, the poverty rate increased. When compared to 2017-2020, there is still a decline from 15.92 percent to 15.33 percent or a decrease of 0.59 points.

The meeting also discussed several regulations from the LoGA that had not yet been issued, including the regulation on the implementation of the special autonomy fund which had been set since 2008-2020.

He said there were five government regulations (PP), three presidential regulations (perpres), and 47 qanuns that had not yet been issued.

Then there are 12 local government authority regulations, either because they are revised, are still under discussion, or there are no drafts yet.

Nova also said that related to preparations for the 2024 General Election, his party had placed several funds for 2022 preparations such as political education.

"The obstacle in the implementation of the 2024 General Election is that there is no technical guideline regarding the 2024 Election, so that the 2022 budget is not yet available in stages, both at the provincial and district/city levels," Nova said.
