Ahead Of The Old Firm Derby, Rangers Find Cases Of COVID-19 In Their Team
JAKARTA - Defending Scottish League champions Rangers have found positive cases of COVID-19 in their squad ahead of the Old Firm derby against arch-rivals Celtic this weekend. "Rangers can confirm that during the scheduled tests we had a positive test result for COVID-19. Those who were identified as positive are now in self-quarantine as are subjects known to have been in close contact," read a statement on the website. Rangers' official website. "We continue to follow best practice according to protocols and procedures. Since the start of the pandemic, Rangers have continued to work closely with the Scottish government and Scottish football authorities to ensure the health of staff is protected at all times. We will continue to do so," reads the same statement.
The first edition of the Old Firm derby this season will be the 324th meeting in the Scottish League and is scheduled to take place at Ibrox on Sunday, 29 August with Rangers hosting Celtic. The last edition of Old Firm was won by Rangers 4-1 over Celtic on 2 Last May. Three days before the Old Firm derby, the two teams will both play the second leg of the Europa League playoffs, with Rangers flying to Turkey to face Alashkert and Celtic traveling to the Netherlands to meet AZ Alkmaar.
