Atalia Praratya: West Java Provincial Government Pursues Vaccination Target Of 500 Thousand Doses Per Day

BANDUNG - The Provincial Government of West Java (Jabar) is trying to achieve the daily COVID-19 vaccination target of 500 thousand doses, among others by holding the COVID-19 Vaccination Festival on August 28.

Deputy Head of the West Java Vaccination Division Atalia Praratya Ridwan Kamil said that to achieve communal immunity, it was necessary to successfully vaccinate a minimum of 37.9 million West Java residents.

"To achieve this target, 500 thousand West Java residents must vaccinate every day," said Atalia in West Java's Got Information (Japri) themed Gebyar West Java COVID-19 Vaccination at Gedung Sate, Bandung City, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 24.

To be successful in vaccination celebrations, collaboration with stakeholders is needed from the TNI, Polri, universities, private sector, communities, to the community.

"We are open as much as possible to organizations and partners in West Java during the implementation on August 28. Due to limitations, collaboration of all parties is the main thing," he said.

Atalia invites religious and community leaders to participate in socializing and educating the public so they want to be vaccinated. It is undeniable that quite a lot of people refuse to be vaccinated for various reasons.

"Religious leaders and community leaders will help to disseminate information on the importance of vaccines," said Atalia.

Meanwhile, Head of the Vaccination Acceleration Division, Dedi Supandi, said West Java's ability to vaccinate is getting better. In July, the average vaccination rate was 69,000 per day. In August increased rapidly 164,000 per day.

"We continue to pursue the vaccination target of up to 400 thousand per day so that December can achieve herd immunity," he said.

Especially for August 28, according to him, the vaccination target of 461,000 people has been achieved.

Currently, according to him, up to 548,906 people have been registered. The number will continue to grow and is estimated to reach 600,000 people.

"They are registered in health facilities, vaccine centers, schools, Islamic boarding schools and malls. They are very enthusiastic to participate," he said.

The Head of the West Java COVID-19 Task Force, Dewi Sartika, added that for the celebration of vaccination, all types of vaccines were already available.

"Until now, West Java has received 16.3 million vaccines, of which 83 percent have been used. We hope that the supply of vaccines from the central government is increased for West Java," he said.

Ideally, according to Dewi, West Java will get a supply of 15 million doses of vaccine per month or 3.5 million per week. But until now only get a supply of 1 million doses per week.

"It is still not proportional to the number of West Java residents to achieve group immunity," he said.
