JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) showcased their success in saving state money through supervision activities with regional governments throughout Indonesia of up to Rp22.27 trillion in Semester I 2021.

This was conveyed by Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata at a press conference on the Commission's First Semester Performance Achievements in the Field of Enforcement, Coordination and Supervision on Tuesday, August 24.

"Through the Deputy for Coordination and Supervision (Korsup), the KPK together with the local government have saved potential state losses of a total of Rp.

He said the assets from the supervision activities consisted of collecting local tax receivables worth Rp3.8 trillion. In addition, the KPK also saved local government assets in the form of land certificates worth Rp. 9.5 trillion.

Furthermore, saving state money is also carried out by conducting elections and controlling regional assets worth Rp. 1.7 trillion. Finally, the KPK saved IDR 7.1 trillion in the form of state assets from public facilities and infrastructure throughout Indonesia.

Complementing Alexander's statement, Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK Karyoto said his party would continue to work on saving state assets with local governments throughout Indonesia. The anti-corruption commission, he said, did not want any assets from the central or regional governments to be neglected, causing state losses in the future.

He also advised regional heads to optimize tax payments by aggressively collecting corporate taxes that had not been paid for a long time.

"KPK also encourages local governments to collect tax arrears. Among other things, the KPK facilitates regional cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office in its function as State Attorney Attorney to collect tax receivables," he concluded.
