The COVID-19 Pandemic Affects KPK's Performance, Including The Field Of Enforcement
JAKARTA - KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Karyoto said that restrictions ranging from Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) to those currently in effect, namely the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) affected their performance during Semester I 2021.
In addition, the large number of employees who were exposed to COVID-19 also caused the KPK to have to limit their movements.

Karyoto explained that during the first semester of 2021, the KPK has carried out 77 investigations, 35 investigations, 53 prosecutions, and 35 executions.
He explained that of the 35 cases that were under investigation and a letter was issued with an Investigation Order (sprindik), 32 people had been designated as suspects in corruption crimes.
Next, Karyoto also explained that there have been 50 cases that have entered phase two or been submitted to the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) during the first semester.
As for the current cases, Karyoto said, the number reached 160, of which 125 cases were carry-overs or inheritances from the previous leadership and 35 cases were investigations whose sprindiks were published this year.
"The examination of witnesses and suspects who were called in all handling cases in the first semester of 2021 were 2,761 witnesses and 50 suspects," explained Karyoto.
In addition, the KPK has conducted 45 searches and 198 seizures. Finally, Karyoto explained that throughout the first semester of 2021, the KPK only carried out 4 Hand Capture Operations (OTT) and 33 arrests of suspects.
"That along with the dynamics of the development of the KPK, this year we are also still in a pandemic situation which presents its own challenges for the KPK in carrying out one of its functions in taking action," he concluded.
