Expanding Financial Services In The Retail Segment, Bank Mandiri Presents EDC Machine With Android Features

JAKARTA - PT Bank Mandiri Tbk. has just released an electronic data capture (EDC) engine with Android features that can accept payments through the QR Payment scheme. In addition, EDC Android can also be integrated with various other services such as POS (point of sales) systems, merchant applications, as well as promotion and loyalty platforms.

Bank Mandiri Network and Retail Director Aquarius Rudianto said that this initiative is the company's commitment to providing digital financial services.

"We continue to adapt and adopt the latest developments related to digital payment tools in order to provide optimal added value to customers and merchant partners," he said in a written statement at the launch in Jakarta today, Tuesday, August 24.

Aquarius added that the presence of Android EDC technology is also expected to provide a new transaction experience for the community. It is claimed that Mandiri EDC Android is a form of digital innovation in meeting customer transaction needs.

"This is a step to become a bank with a retail business scope that is adaptive to customers' new habits," he said.

On the same occasion, Managing Director of SOGO Department Store Indonesia Handaka Santosa said that the services provided by Bank Mandiri could bring new experiences for SOGO customers.

"Working with Bank Mandiri, we want to provide an even more enjoyable shopping experience by providing various privileges and benefits for Mandiri cardholders and SOGO loyal customers," he said.

Similarly, President Director Yokke Niniek S. Rahardja as another partner of Bank Mandiri said that the technology enabler presented was considered to provide solutions for all stakeholders.

"Our main goal is to provide a safe, convenient, easy and fast transaction experience for all stakeholders in the payment ecosystem in Indonesia," said Niniek.

For information, Bank Mandiri is collaborating with Yokke (PT Mitra Transaction Indonesia) in providing digital financial services. In the early stages, Bank Mandiri has collaborated with SOGO Indonesia to place Mandiri EDC Android at a number of its merchants.

Meanwhile, until July 2021 there are more than 150,000 cooperative merchants, with the number of EDCs in the range of 218,000 units.

Of this amount, Bank Mandiri recorded a sales volume of IDR 62 trillion in July 2021, with an increase of 13 percent compared to the previous year (year-on-year / yoy). In addition, Mandiri EDC recorded 104 million transactions in July 2021, an increase of 12 percent yoy.
