Kemenkominfo Disconnects Muhammad Kece's YouTube Account Access Allegedly Contains SARA Elements
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemenkominfo) took firm steps by closing the YouTube account of Muhammad Kece alias M. Kece which was suspected of containing elements of blasphemy.
"The Ministry of Communication and Information has cut off access to 20 videos from M. Kece's Youtube account, as well as one video from the TikTok platform. Coordination efforts with platform managers, as well as related Ministries/Institutions continue to be carried out to prevent the spread and misuse of such content," said the spokesperson. Kemenkominfo Dedy Permadi in a statement quoted by VOI, Monday, August 23.
Dedy said that M. Kece's YouTube content was claimed to contain information that could cause hatred or hostility based on ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group (SARA).
According to the Ministry of Communication and Information, the actions of the M. Kece Youtube account owner can be categorized as creating content that violates Law no. 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions as amended by Law no. 19 of 2016, Article 28 paragraph 2 jo.
Based on the article, M. Kece can be sentenced to a maximum imprisonment of 6 (six) years and/or a maximum fine of Rp. 1,000,000,000. Not only that, Dedy and his party will also carry out cyber patrols to find similar content spread across various social media.
"The 24/7 cyber patrol to find and follow up on content that violates the applicable laws and regulations will continue to be carried out," said Dedy.
Meanwhile, Dedy asked the public to remain calm and continue to maintain peace both in the physical and digital spaces.
"If the public finds content that violates the law, including blasphemy, including those suspected of having blasphemy content and or information that can cause feelings of hatred or hostility and racial intolerance, it can be reported through aduankonten.id and other complaint channels provided," he said. It is known, YouTube M. Kece has been around since July 2020, with a total of 2.4 million viewers. And it became viral on social media recently because some of M. Kece's statements were considered disturbing the public and insulting religion, such as changing the greeting.
