Sandiaga Uno Wants To 'Invade' Garut With A 'Tourism Attack', What Is It?

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno invites tourism industry and creative economy players, especially the Garut Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) to prepare for tourism attacks (Revenge Tourism) when PPKM levels are relaxed.

During a discussion with the PHRI Garut at the Rancabago Hotel and Resort, Garut Regency, West Java, last Sunday, August 22, it was explained that social restrictions had made people bored.

"Tourism and creative economy stakeholders, especially PHRI, must be able to prepare themselves to receive massive tourist visits," said Sandiaga Uno in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, August 23.

As in India, continued Sandiaga, after the lockdown there was a tourism attack that made all flights run out, hotel occupancy was full and even oversubscribed by 40 percent. This is stated to make many tourists disappointed.

This incident can occur in Garut, he said, because various destinations there can be reached by using land transportation from Jakarta for approximately three hours.

Some time ago, the creative parishioners in Garut raised a white flag as a sign that they needed the government's side to attend and help in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sandiaga explained, no one knows for sure when the pandemic will end.

"Based on the data we have collected, it is predicted that by the end of September 2021 the number of COVID-19 will be sloping. This is while we prepare health protocols by accelerating vaccination efforts," he said.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy explained that all existing opportunities must be maximized and challenges must be overcome and their negative impacts anticipated.

Therefore, support and cooperation from elements of the pentahelix parekraf are needed so that the various efforts taken by the government in saving the tourism sector can come to light.

In addition to the COVID-19 vaccination, which is currently being accelerated by the government, it is stated that the implementation of strict and disciplined implementation of health protocols based on Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment Sustainability or CHSE must also be a priority. attention.

Moreover, the pattern of future tourism trends is said to be adapting to tourism that personalizes, customizes, localizes, and is smaller in size.

"The lesson we have taken so far is that we have always talked about world-class destinations expecting foreign tourists to compete with Thailand and Malaysia in terms of the number of visits. But it turns out that the gem in front of us is forgotten, namely domestic tourists who spend 11 billion US dollars each year who travel to abroad," said Sandiaga.
