Celebrating Victory At Tokyo Olympics, PBSI Holds Independent Vaccination
JAKARTA - The Central Board of the All-Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) celebrated their victory at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by holding an activity titled Independent Vaccination for residents living around the Cipayung National Training Center, East Jakarta.
For the success of the badminton team in winning gold and bronze medals in Tokyo, PBSI in collaboration with Polda Metro Jaya provided around 1,000 vaccines for the first dose and also food packages.
"The message is that we want to encourage sports organizations to help make people healthy. One of them is by jointly getting out of the pandemic, the way is by vaccination," said PP PBSI General Chair Agung Firman Sampurna in an official statement quoted by Antara, Monday, August 23.
The vaccination and distribution of basic necessities was held in the RW 08 Hall, Cipayung Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta, on August 23-27.
Agung hopes that similar humanitarian actions will also be carried out by more than 2,000 badminton clubs or communities. The hope is that if it is carried out on a larger scale, it can accelerate the community to be healthy and get out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the same occasion, mixed doubles badminton player Melati Daeva Oktavianti welcomed the event which was initiated by PBSI.
He hopes that the public will participate in enlivening the Free Vaccination so that this country's fight against COVID-19 ends quickly with victory.
"We at the National Training Center have implemented strict health protocols and almost 100 percent of the people have been vaccinated. I hope the public is enthusiastic about vaccination. Hopefully we can get out of this pandemic quickly," said Melati.
