Thanks To PPKM, The Number Of COVID-19 Cases In Riau Drops
JAKARTA - The daily number of COVID-19 cases in Riau Province has fallen thanks to the implementation of Level 4 community activity restrictions (PPKM) in several regions, according to provincial government officials.
"If usually the addition is always above 1000 cases, since the last few days the daily addition of cases has always been below 1000 cases. Thank God the trend of our cases has decreased," said Riau Provincial Secretary SF Hariyanto in Pekanbaru, reported by Antara, Monday, August 23. .
On Sunday, August 22, Riau Province recorded an additional daily COVID-19 case of 568 cases, bringing the cumulative number of residents infected with the corona virus in the region to 119,289 with 106,629 patients who have recovered and 3,473 patients who died.
Spokesman for the Riau COVID-19 Task Force, Indra Yovi, said that during August 2021 the number of additional cases of corona virus infection fell to less than 1,000 cases per day from around 2,000 cases per day in July 2021.
"Although the number of positive COVID-19 patients has begun to decline, the team has not reduced the number of tests to detect COVID-19. There are still a large number of swab samples being examined, because this is an effort to break the chain of COVID-19 spread," he said. Hariyanto said that the provincial government was also intensifying activities to track COVID-19 cases.
"We also continue to improve our tracing," he said.
In addition, the government is intensifying a campaign to implement health protocols and carry out vaccinations to suppress the transmission of COVID-19.
