Check It Out, These Are 9 Regencies/Cities That Can Prioritize Pfizer Vaccine Distribution

JAKARTA - Indonesia has received around 1.56 million doses of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine. The Pfizer vaccine, which was imported in the first phase, was carried out through bilateral cooperation.

Plt. Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Maxi Rein Rondonuwu said that the Pfizer vaccine that Indonesia had received now will be distributed to districts/cities in three provinces.

"Pfizer's vaccine distribution allocation plan, which arrived on August 19, is for DKI Jakarta, Banten and West Java," said Maxi to VOI, Saturday, August 21.

In detail, there are 9 districts/cities that receive priority for Pfizer vaccines. Among them are South Jakarta City which received 174,321 doses, North Jakarta City 58,500 doses. Tangerang Regency 181,344 doses, Tangerang City 163,800 doses.

Then, Bogor Regency received 310,044 doses of Pfizer vaccine, Bogor City 64,344 doses, Bekasi Regency 146,244 doses, Bekasi City 362,700 doses, and Depok City 99,444 doses.

Maxi said the Pfizer vaccine could be used by the general public. However, the Ministry of Health handed over the Pfizer vaccine allocation policy to their respective local governments.

"There is no priority setting for certain groups to receive the Pfizer vaccine. Later, the arrangement will be left to the regions," he said.

It was previously known that 1.56 million doses of Pfizer vaccine and 450,000 doses of AstraZeneca arrived at Soekatno Hatta Airport on Thursday, August 19 evening.

The newly arrived Pfizer vaccine is imported through the commercial (business to business) route. Meanwhile, 450,000 AstraZeneca are supported by the Dutch government through bilateral cooperation.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said the government will continue to work hard to meet the vaccine needs for the Indonesian people in order to immediately achieve communal immunity or herd immunity.

“The government has also purchased 1,560,780 doses of Pfizer vaccine which arrived this afternoon. Then 567,500 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine and five million Sinovac vaccines that will be received tomorrow. The government will continue to increase efforts to ensure the supply of vaccines for the needs of the Indonesian people," said Retno on August 19.
