Farmers Growing Hydroponic Cannabis In Enrekang, South Sulawesi Arrested

ENREKANG - Enrekang Police, South Sulawesi, arrested a resident who worked as a farmer for growing marijuana using hydroponic methods in his yard in Mundan Village, Masalle District.

The Head of the Enrekang Police, AKBP Andi Sinjaya Ghalib, said that the arrested farmer with the initials SS (25) was secured along with the evidence.

"Initially there was information that there was a resident who was growing marijuana using hydroponics in his yard and then the members followed up," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, August 20.

AKBP Andi Sinjaya explained, marijuana is included in the category of drug crime class one in accordance with Law No. 22 of 1997 on Narcotics.

The chronology of the disclosure of this drug case stems from the existence of information from the public regarding the alleged criminal act of marijuana abuse.

At the time of the arrest and body search, SS (25) was found in his trouser pocket a package of dried leaves suspected of being a class I narcotic of marijuana.

"This type of marijuana is in clear plastic packaging with a gross weight of 10.96 grams," he said.

Then based on the confession from the suspect that there were other marijuana plants in his yard which were planted in black hydroponic flower pots.

"After hearing the information from the suspect, a search was carried out for evidence and found a black flower pot containing a tree trunk suspected of being marijuana," he explained.

The suspect SS himself admitted before the police that he planted marijuana because he got the seeds from his friend.

The suspect also admitted that he had harvested the marijuana three times and sold it at retail.

In addition to the hydroponic marijuana, his party has also revealed other drug cases from January to August 2021, one of which is the sale of gorilla tobacco.

"In Enrekang, since January 2021, there have been nine cases, including the synthetic gorilla-type tobacco," he said.

For his actions, the suspect SS is subject to Article 111 paragraph (1) of the Narcotics Law.
