Clarification Of Electronic Powder Findings, KPK Examines Inactive Tanjungbalai Walkot In Alleged Bribery At Position Auction

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor (Walkot) M Syahrial on Thursday, August 19 yesterday at the KPK Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta. He is being investigated for alleged bribery at auction or a transfer of office.

During the examination, several things were clarified by investigators. One of them, related to the contents of the electronic evidence (barbuk) found.

"M Syahrial has confirmed, among other things, the various contents of his electronic evidence which are suspected to be related to the case," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters, Friday, August 20.

The case of alleged bribery in the auction of positions or mutations in the Tanjungbalai City Government was in the spotlight because of the bribery of former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju. This bribery was carried out to stop the investigation into the alleged rasuah.

Previously, KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri emphasized that the alleged corruption case of buying and selling positions within the Tanjungbalai City Government, North Sumatra, was being investigated. He emphasized that his party never stopped handling the case. Even cases that have been hanging over the KPK for years are still being investigated.

"This means that we want to make sure that there are no cases that stop at the KPK. We will even raise cases that have been hanging at the KPK for five years. Because in principle the increase in cases and the determination of suspects must be initiated and capitalized on sufficient evidence, not prejudices, perceptions, or assumptions and we work based on the adequacy of evidence," he said some time ago.
