Democracy Is Not A Servant Of A Few Elites, Let Alone Power, PPP: Must Be Based On Islam Rahmatan Lil Alamin

JAKARTA - Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Suharso Manoarfa mentioned democracy in Indonesia in his national speech for the 50th Anniversary of CSIS, Friday, August 20.

According to him, democracy is not a servant of power. But, proof that no one was left behind.

"Democracy is not serving a handful of elites who are in power or have possessions. Democracy is a process of proving that no one, no one, no one is left behind or left behind, no one is left behind," said Suharso.

According to the head of Bappenas, democracy without prosperity is a failed democracy. Based on the Islamic principle of rahmatan lil alamin, PPP is called by history to prove that the main function of democracy is to prosper the people, honor the people and build the nation.

"Democracy must necessarily produce prosperity, democracy without prosperity is a failed democracy," he said.

Suharso said that the PPP was called by history to emphasize that the main virtues and virtues of democracy are orienting steps and policies to the people and the nation. Thus, PPP wants to prove that democracy is a fruit with a sweet tree.

"PPP is called by history to prove that democracy is a tree with sweet fruit, not a tree with bitter fruit or poison," he said.
