Jorginho, Kante Or De Bruyne, Who Is Most Deserving Of The UEFA Player Of The Year Title?

JAKARTA - Two Chelsea midfielders; Jorginho and N'Golo Kante, compete with Manchester City lead creator Kevin De Bruyne, in the final nominations for the 2020/21 UEFA Player of the Year award.

The trio met in the Champions League final at Porto last season which ended in a 1-0 Chelsea victory.

While Jorginho and Kante won the Champions League, De Bruyne won the Premier League double and the EFL Cup with City last season.

In addition to the Champions League, Jorginho also has another big asset to be selected as the recipient of the award when he helped the Italian national team win Euro 2020.

The Euro title also saw Gli Azzurri tactician Roberto Mancini named in the final nominations for the 2020/21 UEFA Best Coach alongside Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and City manager Pep Guardiola.

Meanwhile, the UEFA Women's Player of the Year 2020/21 category will be contested by a trio of Barcelona players, namely Jennifer Hermoso, Lieke Martens and Alexia Putellas, who won the Women's Champions League last season.

The title also saw Barcelona women's coach, Lluis Cortes, in the final nominations for the 2020/21 UEFA Women's Coach of the Year alongside women's Chelsea manager Emmas Hayes and Sweden women's national team coach Peter Gerhardsson.

The winners of these awards and the award for the best in each position will be announced in conjunction with the 2021/22 Champions League group draw which will be held by UEFA in Istanbul, Turkey, next Thursday.
