The Acting Governor Of South Sulawesi Inaugurates The Barru-Soppeng Connecting Road

MAKASSAR - Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman inaugurated the provincial road access connecting Barru and Soppeng regencies, namely the Takkalasi - Bainange - Lawo road, in Kamiri Village, Balusu District, Barru Regency.

At the inauguration, Andi Sudirman was accompanied by Chairman of the South Sulawesi DPRD Andi Ina Kartika Sari, Deputy Chair of the South Sulawesi DPRD Muzayyin Arif, and Barru Regent Suardi Saleh.

Andi Sudirman said that the presence of the access road was his duty as a public servant, which of course was assisted by the Provincial DPRD by approving the implementation of the handling of this road.

"(The presence of this road) Don't look because of me, God happened to seat me here. This development is state money from the people for the people. God only put me here, how to be a mouthpiece and a connector for implementation," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, August 19.

With the presence of this road, the community not only gets smooth road access. But it can also shorten the distance traveled. Because the presence of this road reduces the distance traveled by up to 30 km so that it will certainly facilitate public access.

"Thank God this road can be enjoyed by the public. This road is an isolated access as well as a bypass for Barru and Soppeng. If you go through Pekkae it is 70 km, if it is 38 km here. The difference is 30 km, it can save time," he said.

According to him, good road access will have an impact on improving the economy and spur tourism. Moreover, if you want to visit Lejja as one of the hot spring tourist areas, it will be closer to access to the City of Parepare.

It is hoped that by facilitating access it will increase agricultural output, stimulate tourism and the community's economy.

Synergy between all parties, the provincial government, district governments, and the community is very much needed for the creation of sustainable development. Therefore, the hope of the KPK for each plan must be local knowledge, to synchronize and support each other.

"That's why we are consistent in how we complete this road. Of course our hope is how to always work for the community," he said.

The Takkalasi - Bainange - Lawo road segment has a length of 38.7 km, where the Barru segment is 19.9 km long and in Soppeng is 18.8 km.

The development carried out by the South Sulawesi PUPR Service is carried out in stages, starting in 2019, with the opening of 6 km of land with a budget of IDR 1.7 billion. Then it will be continued in 2020 with the handling of asphalt and the widening of the concrete shoulder construction with a length of 2 km and a width of 5.5 m with a value of IDR 11.5 billion.

Meanwhile, in 2021, work will continue in the form of asphalting and widening of the concrete shoulder construction with a length of 5.7 km and a width of 5.5 m with a value of Rp. 24.9 billion, and the construction of a bridge of 50 m with a value of Rp. 6.5 billion.

The plan is that the South Sulawesi Provincial Government will resume handling asphalt in 2022 with an estimated value of IDR 65 billion for a 10 km long and 5.5 m wide road.
