Police Admit RAG Assembled Weapons Sold Online, Manufacturer's Quality

JAKARTA - RAG (32) a former bank employee was arrested by a member of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tebet Police because he was caught holding an improvised firearm (senpi). RAG was arrested while trying to sell homemade guns to the police posing as a buyer.

"The homemade firearms sold by the suspect are homemade. From the Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor) these are of good quality," Tebet Police Chief Kompol Alexander Yurikho told reporters, Thursday, August 19.

Even though it is assembled, Alexander said that the assembled rifle has advantages and disadvantages.

"This is a homemade weapon whose quality is similar to that of a manufacturer's weapon," he added. It was further explained that RAG sold homemade weapons to police officers for Rp. 7 million.

The police also have not received information where the RAG suspect made an assembled rifle. The reason is, the suspect said that he got this Revolver 9 type rifle in November 2020 through social media.

"We do not necessarily believe, we will conduct a search. If there are people who know the source of this weapon, please inform the Tebet Police," he said.

Police also still know the motive behind the possession of this rifle. Including finding out what the weapon was used for. The reason is that so far there have been reports of motorized vehicles using guns, threatening with firearms and so on.

"Because the suspect has given a provisional statement, he has not admitted that the suspect only confessed to being a fad. Only carrying this weapon. We ask for the role of the community to inform whether there is a crime or criminal act using weapons. We are open," he concluded.

The suspect is alleged to be in Article 1 paragraph 1 of Law No. 12 of 1951. That in the article and paragraph it is explained that it is forbidden for a person to own, control, let alone trade in firearms, the penalty is quite high, namely up to 20 years in prison.
