First Trial Of MAKI Lawsuit, Boyamin Saiman MAKI Has New And Strong Evidence

JAKARTA – Boyamin Saiman has been on trial for the lawsuit by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) against the Speaker of the DPR, Puan Maharani, at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN). The inaugural session was not attended by the DPR, neither the attorney nor the chairman of the DPR, Puan Maharani.

“The trial has been completed, the event is dismissal but cannot be continued because the DPR is not present. Both the Chairperson of the DPR (Puan Maharani) and her legal counsel. So it cannot be clarified regarding the letter or related objections.” explained Boyamin Saiman, MAKI Coordinator to VOI via text message, Thursday 19 August.

Boyamin said that his party had brought new evidence in the form of a letter from the Chairman of the DPD La Nyalla Mattalitti which stated that 2 of the 16 candidates for BPK did not meet the requirements.

"I have new and strong evidence that the two people from the Ministry of Finance that we are talking about are not eligible because in two years they are still holding positions in budget management." Boyamin explained.

Boyamin showed a letter as evidence signed by the Chairman of the DPD, La Nyalla Mattalitti which stated that the two candidates for BPK members did not meet the formal requirements and did not comply with Article 13 J (In the last two years they have not left their positions as officials in the financial management environment/ budget).

"So I feel confident that the process at the KPK does not meet the requirements and actually the DPR can abort it now or later it can be on a fit and proper test in September 2021. So I can withdraw the lawsuit. Or if it continues later I'm sure I will win." concluded Boyamin.

The trial was adjourned until August 16, 2021.
