Wahyana, Indonesian Referee At The Tokyo Olympics Receives An Award From The Regent Of Gunungkidul Yogyakarta
JAKARTA - Wahyana, a teacher from Gunungkidul who was a referee at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, received an award
This award was given by the Regent of Gunungkidul Sunaryanta during the celebration of the 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17 yesterday at the Gunung Kidul square, Yogyakarta Special Region.
Wahyana is a teacher at SMPN 4 Patuk, Gunungkidul who is the main referee for badminton.
One of the matches led by Wahyana was the women's final match between Tai Tzu Yung (Taiwan) against Chen Yu Fei (China).
It is known, of the 36 referees selected 11 of them are from Asia. And Wahyana is the only one from Indonesia.
Wahyana said he was happy with the award given by the Gunungkidul regional government. He is also proud of his success as a national referee.
"I will try to develop this both nationally and especially in the Gunungkidul area. Please pray that in the future good referees will appear and follow in my footsteps from the Gunungkidul district," said Wahyana.
Being a referee at the Tokyo Olympics is the peak of Wahyana's career as a badminton referee.
