The Ombudsman Suggests Anies Postpone The Provision Of Social Assistance For Residents Who Don't Want To Be Vaccinated
JAKARTA - Head of the Greater Jakarta Ombudsman Representative Teguh Nugroho urged DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to impose sanctions for people who do not want to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
The sanctions are in the form of delays in the provision of social security such as social assistance and delays in administrative services.
However, this sanction only applies to people who are reluctant to be vaccinated even though they meet the requirements for getting a vaccine injection, and do not have certain disease conditions that make them unable to be vaccinated.
"The DKI Provincial Government can take appropriate policies, including the possibility of imposing positive discrimination on residents who refuse vaccination without proper reasons, for not receiving social security and assistance, administrative services, and other public services," said Teguh in his statement, Wednesday, August 18.
In fact, said Teguh, the DKI Provincial Government could apply fines, as regulated in Presidential Regulation 14/2021 concerning Amendments to Presidential Decree 99/2020 concerning Vaccine Procurement and Vaccination Implementation in the Context of Coping with COVID-19.
However, before implementing the sanctions, Teguh suggested that each RT/RW in Jakarta conduct a data collection process for its citizens regarding vaccination.
"Direct data collection is to find out residents who are willing to be vaccinated but have not had the opportunity, residents who cannot be vaccinated because they suffer from uncontrolled comorbidities or other causes so that it is impossible for them to be vaccinated," said Teguh. The data from the RT/RW, said Teguh, became the basis for the implementation of follow-up vaccinations so that vaccine recipients were targeted, according to name and address (by name by address), including residents who could be subject to positive discrimination.
"The implementation of the vaccination is also easier, no longer have to use the method of invading vaccines through large events that have more potential to become clusters of transmission, but directly at health facilities at the RW and kelurahan level such as Puskesmas, BPJS health facilities, 24-hour clinics, and can even work together. with Posyandu,” he explained.
