JAKARTA - After giving general remissions to 5,233 prisoners in all prison inmates in DKI Jakarta on the commemoration of the 76th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kakanwil Kumham) DKI Jakarta Ibnu Chuldun said there was an overcapacity of the number of prisoners in Jakarta.

Based on the latest data held by the Jakarta Regional Office of Kumham, as of Monday, August 16, yesterday, there were 17,824 inmates in detention centers and prisons in DKI Jakarta.

He assessed that this number had exceeded the capacity of prisoners in detention centers and prisons in DKI Jakarta. He hoped that the granting of the General Remission could reduce the excess capacity of prisoners in prisons and detention centers in DKI Jakarta.

"A total of 5,233 inmates in all prison inmates in DKI Jakarta received General Remission on the commemoration of the 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. A total of 4,913 prisoners of whom received partial remission of detention and 320 other prisoners were immediately released," he told VOI, Wednesday, August 18. .

In addition to granting remissions, his party also held a Free Vaccination for 14,497 prisoners in DKI Jakarta.

"1,083 have not been vaccinated due to health problems. But we are trying to get all inmates vaccinated to increase group immunity in prisons and detention centers," he said.
