Minister Of Communication And Informatics Asks People To Stay Alert Even Though COVID-19 Cases Drop
JAKARTA - The Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate, asked the public to remain vigilant even though the number of COVID-19 cases had fallen.
"Along with the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) Levels 4, 3, 2, in Java-Bali, we see a downward trend in the positivity rate, patient care, conformational cases and mortality rates in almost all provinces in Java-Bali, said Johnny was quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 17.
Currently, according to Johnny, most people's mobility in Java and Bali has returned to the way it was before the increase in the delta variant.
He reminded all parties to remain vigilant and extra careful so that there are no increase in cases in the next two to three weeks.
According to Kominfo data, the trend of confirmed cases on August 15 has fallen to 76 percent from its peak point. For active cases, recorded down 53 percent from the peak.
The number of cures has also increased, while the number of deaths has fallen.
Based on President Joko Widodo's evaluation and direction, the government has extended PPKM Levels 4, 3, and 2 in Java and Bali until August 23.
In this extension, there are an additional 8 regencies and cities that enter PPKM Level 3. The total regencies and cities that enter PPKM Level 3 and 2 reach 61 regencies and cities.
Based on the results of field visits some time ago, the government feels that some improvements still need to be made in several areas.
The government has taken several intervention steps, including the mobilization of self-isolated patients to isolation centers provided by the city/district government and ensuring the availability of drugs, as well as oxygen concentrators.
"The government continues to take various policies and intervention measures to control the pandemic. With this step, we hope that there will be significant improvements next week, especially in Bali and Greater Malang," said Johnny.
