COVID-19 Update As Of August 17: New Cases 20,740, Recovers Increase By 32,225
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 182,206 specimens were examined with the result that there were 20,741 new positive cases of COVID-19.
"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 3,892,479 people and 358,357 active cases," said Ministry of Health data, Tuesday, August 17.
Today's recovered cases increased by 32,225 cases, bringing the total to 3,414,109 people recovered. Then, positive confirmed cases who died increased by 1,180 people and a total of 113,664 people.
The province with the most new cases was in Central Java with 3,263 cases and a total of 454,189 cases. Followed by East Java which has 2,346 new cases with a total of 361,943 cases. West Java has 1,643 new cases and a total of 658,778 cases. Then, North Sumatra has 1,172 new cases and a total of 361,943 cases.
The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to Central Java with an additional 5,179 recovered cases. Followed by East Java with an increase of 3,971 recovered cases, West Java with an additional 3,894 recovered cases, and DI Yogyakarta with an additional 2,816 recovered cases.
No province has reported no new cases as of today. In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 29,659,094.
"Positive results per number of specimens examined or this week's positivity rate of 21.62 percent," he wrote.
The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 293,179 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.
To date, 54,982,550 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 29,159,049 people have received the second dose of vaccination. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
