Jokowi's Son-in-law, Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution, Isolates 8,000 People With Potential COVID-19 Spreaders

JAKARTA - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution has a house task to suppress the spread of COVID-19 in Medan. More than 8,000 people have been exposed to potential COVID-19 spreaders in the city of Medan, North Sumatra, out of a total of 10,833 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

"Today, if I'm not mistaken, there are more than 8,000 vectors that can spread COVID-19 in Medan City," said Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution in Medan, Monday, August 16, quoted from ANTARA.

He admitted that the 10,833 confirmed residents were based on data on COVID-19 patients released by the Medan City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) as of August 15, 2021.

His party has repeatedly conveyed this, including when inaugurating the integrated isolation of the ex-Hotel Soechi Medan.

"It can be seen from the numbers that have not been accommodated or those who are not in the hospital. If I'm not mistaken, the data is less than 20 percent of the existing 10 thousand active cases," he said.

Mayor Bobby said the figure was not due to the occupancy rate of the hospital rooms being full, but the 8,000 people, including mild and asymptomatic (OTG) symptoms.

"This has the potential to spread. And these 8,000 we must be able to put into centralized isolation or environmental isolation which must have strict standards," he said.

The Medan City Government has exemplified environmental isolation, especially the involvement of residents, youth organizations, and the role of housewives at the neighborhood level to actively handle COVID-19 patients.

"Even every house that is exposed can be monitored from CCTV and can communicate from CCTV. Because it is connected to their respective gadgets," said Bobby Nasution.
