4,000 Doses Of 'Booster' COVID Vaccine Ready To Be Injected To Healthcare Workers In Garut, December Target Completed
GARUT - The government of Garut Regency, West Java received four thousand doses of Moderna vaccine from the central government for the third dose of booster vaccination targeting health workers.
"For this third vaccine, there are four thousand deliveries, prioritized for health workers," said Garut Deputy Regent Helmi Budiman in Garut as quoted by Antara, Monday, August 16.
He said the central government had supplied four thousand doses of Moderna vaccine which was ready for vaccination during the next week.
The number of doses of the vaccine, he said, is still insufficient to meet the need for the third dose of vaccination for health workers in Garut, which amounts to six thousand people.
"While we got four thousand first, it is still lacking, the number of health workers in Garut is six thousand," he said.
He conveyed that according to government regulations, it is recommended for health workers to take the third vaccination to make their immune system stronger.
According to him, health workers do need to be vaccinated again or a third vaccine because their task is quite heavy, namely every day dealing with COVID-19 patients and general sick patients.
"Moderna for this third vaccine is necessary, so that the immune system is good, for the time being the health workers first," he said.
The Garut Regency Government continues to accelerate the vaccination of doses one and two for the general public or those who have a high risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Garut regency government has prepared 1,300 vaccinators who are distributed to carry out vaccinations at the pavilion, police, military, and other agencies, and every health center.
"We hope that in December this year we can complete the vaccination, our target is 26 thousand a day," he said.
